Created between 2006-2010, these studio self-portraits are early examples of using dress to experiment with form, colour, pattern; to express themes of self, identity and sexuality.

Each of these photographic portraits were created on a digital SLR without the help of an assistant or a wireless shutter. The set was created, the camera was set on timer, and then this was followed by a quick dash into the frame. The creation of these portraits were private, intimate acts that functioned as a means of self-love and self-exploration along with registering a formal interest colour, form and lighting.

Created over the course of five years, when taken together, these photographs offer a glimpse into a very personal understanding of identity that has been pushed and pulled across culture, history and gender. Using theatricality and melodrama, but also a keen interest in posture and fashion, they point towards a struggle for self-definition.
